After graduating from high school, Cheenou was
introduced to a college student organization called
the Hmong University Student Association (HUSA).
HUSA was a non-profit student lead organization that
promoted higher education, was actively engaged in
the Hmong community, and promoted awareness about
Hmong culture. It was Cheenou's first time working
with his community and since then he fell in love with it.
“It is truly a privilege and blessing to continue to serve
the Hmong community. It is also a great honor to be a
Hmong Men Circle coordinator and work with Hmong
youth in this program. They are exceptional young men
who I have a lot of admiration for because they have
taught me the meaning of resiliency. They also have a
wealth of compassion towards one another, the Hmong
community, and for themselves. I believe that these
young men will be the change that our community
needs to continue to progress and be successful in
America .”
