Nenick Vu - Assistant Program Coordinator

Born in Colorado but raised in Fresno, California, Nenick Vu is the youngest son and the third child of seven siblings.  Graduating from Clovis High School in 2003, he attended UC Davis.  There he became involved in Hmong college organizations such as Hmong Student Union at UCD and Hmong Inter-Collegiate Coalition (HSIC).  Ever since his early college years, he has aspired to work in the non-profit sector to develop and support the Hmong community as well as further art as a resource for youth development.  Majoring in Asian American Studies, he graduated in August, 2007 with hopes of developing and inspiring alternative choices for youth to achieve success in the arts and in organizing.  In his spare time he plays guitar and tennis, and enjoys many forms of dancing.  He also is an avid writer and hopes to someday publish a poetry book or novel.

"As a community, we must believe in the youth if we are to believe that anything we do has any purpose at all.  It is their growth and achievement that give us meaning and validation in our success; for without them, the rivers we have crossed, the sacrifices we have made, and the wars we have survived would have been for nothing, because they would have been for no one."
